WOMEN WHO SLAY SERIES: HANA ACBD

This NYC based artist loves to create work that's both vivid and expressive. Looking & listening to her art, you will feel the emotion from every song, every painting & every illustration. Meet Hana ACBD - designer by day, musician by night. Read on as we explore her VEUsionary mind!

Is there are piece of artwork or track that you would like to be remembered for?
To be honest, I don't think I've produced that yet. But it would be something I'd be extremely proud of and won't probably be able to recreate again.

Pretend we're on a time machine. If you could work within a past art movement, which would it be?
Cubism definitely! It broke the mold of what art was supposed to be at the time.

How do you "treat yourself"? What do you indulge in?
I love buying art supplies. I definitely indulge myself in that.

Which artist of the past would you most like to meet?
I would love to meet Picasso. I am deeply and eternally intrigued by how his mind works and how he sees the world.

Do you incorporate technology in your work?
Definitely! Technology is a big part of my artistry and profession. All my music is made on my laptop and I work on designs all day as well!

Have you ever had a moment when you questioned your career entirely?
Frequently - But I think that's a good thing because it keeps me hungry and helps me reach my goals.

What visual references do you draw upon in your work?
I reference my perception of the world. Sometimes its literal, most times it isn't. I try to see the world not for what it is but for how it makes me feel. It helps me convey those feelings on paper or song.

What is your daily routine when working?
It's like what they say - I don't work until my coffee does.

What advice would you give to a young artist following in your steps?
Keep doing what makes you happy! Don't be discouraged by failures - and believe me, there will be some - and just keep on keeping on.

Keep it Shady.
