BTS INTERVIEW: DYNAMIMI
Social media is an endless sea of inspirations from fashion, beauty to photography. You’d think it would be hard to be recognized among so much talent. But thats not the case for this photographer and content creator. Mimi Taylor aka Dynamimi, known and recognized for her vintage inspired shoots, continues to capture the views and hearts of viewers and followers worldwide.
Dynamimi has her followers eager for the next post show casting her unique style and eye for fashion. But her photography isn't the only think intriguing about
Dynamimi, its her positive vibes, sweet attitude and heart of gold that draws us in. With that being said, we had the honor of interviewing Dynamimi. Below you will find some questions to get to know one of the coolest most down to earth photographer.
Q: LETS START OFF WITH OUR MOST EAGERLY ASKED QUESTION. WHEN AND HOW DID IT ALL BEGIN ? WHAT GOT YOU MOTIVATED TO EMBARK ON PHOTOGRAPHY ?
Well I’ve always been interested in capturing pretty things on my phone camera. In May of 2015, I decided on my first DSLR (the “fancy” big cameras), and ever since then, I’ve met SO many photographers and friends primarily through the Instagram community who have helped me along the way. I’m really interested in getting into fashion photography and spreading good content, so that’s what I’m trying to do for now heheh.
Q: YOU ARE SUCH A WELL-LOVED AND EMBRACED PHOTOGRAPHER BY LOYAL FOLLOWERS, FANS AND MODELS ! DO YOU HAVE ANY PERSONAL INSPIRATIONS OR PHOTOGRAPHERS THAT YOU LOOK UP TO AND/OR ADMIRE ?
I really, really love Allegra (@messinaphotos). She has her own unique way of photography, and has an amazing eye for fashion. Really, I’m blown away by her whenever I see her newest work. That, and she’s genuine, doesn’t let her success get to her head, and has been such a great inspiration.
I would also have to say Maddy (@maddywelk), because she invented her own vintage-y look to her photos. I love that she does her own thing completely different from the popular style that so many starter photographers are trying to emulate now.
I appreciate individuality that both these ladies show through their work, and whether you’re a photographer, model, stylist, or if you’re not even that involved in this artsy-type department, you’ll definitely find something you like!
Q: TO GET TO KNOW YOU ON A MORE FUN AND PERSONAL LEVEL, WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE, FOOD/DRINK, PLACE, BOOK AND COLOR ?
I am definitely a total foodie. If you bring me fries on any occasion, I’ll probably be the happiest person ever. *hint hint*
Even though I’m a photographer who works with models, some glam, and pretty clothes, I usually am a jeans and tee kind of gal. I keep it simple.
Favorite colors? Baby blue and blush pink!
Q: YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE IS UNIQUE & VINTAGE-BASED ! EVERY LOOK YOU SHOOT HAS ITS OWN INDIVIDUALISTIC TOUCH. DOES IT EVER BECOME DIFFICULT TO COME UP WITH SUCH EXCLUSIVE SHOOTS EVERY TIME, OR DOES IT COME NATURALLY ?
I get inspiration from spending way too much scrolling through the internets, and whenever something pops into my head, I add it to my little list of ideas to save for my next shoot. Sometimes I go through a period of where the few ideas I have are just blah, but I think that’s normal for anyone in the creative arts.
Q: WE CAN'T HELP BUT NOTICE THE POSITIVE VIBES THAT IS CLEARLY REFLECTED IN YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY. WHAT MOTIVATES OR INSPIRES YOU TO PRESENT THE HAPPY HEART AND OPTIMISM YOU HOLD ?
I’m a pretty happy person, and I just want to share my passion through my photos in hopes of inspiring someone else to pursue photography. There’s enough negativity as it is wherever you are, so I like to be an optimistic face with a friendly platform. I was raised in sunny SoCal and naturally, I’m all about those golden vibes too!
Q: LASTLY, THERE ARE SO MANY UP AND COMING PHOTOGRAPHERS LOOKING TO MAKE THEIR BREAK IN THE PHOTOGRAPHY WORLD, WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE THE NEXT GENERATION OF STARTING PHOTOGRAPHERS ?
Don’t get down on yourself.
It’s not about the follower count, about becoming Insta-famous, or being better than someone. Do photography because you genuinely love it, focus on meeting new people and exploring different styles. Break out of that comfort zone, try something new. Keep picking up that camera even when you’re feeling discouraged, because you can only get better from there!
We want to thank Mimi for taking the time to share her wonderful journey with us. It has been such an honor working with such a sweet and talented photographer thus far.
Xoxo,
